AB, SK 2024

We left May 2, 2024, and I got back yesterday, May 3.

I delivered Floyd to his sister’s in Alameda, SK, for a wedding.  Floyd drove half-way, and I drove the rest.  Problem is, we left shortly after 9am and, thanks to me searching for a Shell station to get a discount, Google maps, and Saskatchewan highway planners, we ended up going off-course a considerable amount.

Silver lining – we saw country both of us had not yet seen – some beautiful countryside, rolling hills & valleys, farm & ranch lands, and no gravel roads.  We got in to Alameda at about … 8pm? I think.  It pouring rain when we ran into the house.  We had sandwiches and drinks before bed.

My sleep wasn’t great.  I left my sleep meds at home.  On the way, in Virden, I found a pharmacy and asked if I could get a few pharmacy prescribed tablets.  Absolutely not.  Saskatchewan doesn’t do that – very different laws from Alberta’s.  He suggested calling the pharmacy, but I had no refills left.   So?  Benadryl and Melatonin.  I was awake much of the night.

After breakfast (muffin, banana, coffee) and a shower, I got in Floyd’s car and took off.  Since there weren’t any cousins to see in Manitoba, I just drove back home again.

The next day, the rains stopped.
