Two things arrived today – a Roku TV stick, and a Kobo Libra Colour e-reader.
One worked, the other didn’t.

Mom wrote a note on a “new” compact fluorescent (CF) bulb. “Nov 20 2012 – last 5 years”. It lasted 16 years.
If only Mom were here to see how things turned out. She’d be shocked.
finicky printer (or, what a waste)
The Canon TR150 printer I bought for tutoring never worked out. It worked for a while but gave me nothing but trouble; connecting was always a problem, as was dust. I cleaned it as I had the afternoon off. Now it works, but it’s a little late. What a stupid, useless waste!
AI screw-ups (or, Hello Again Dolly)
Artificial intelligence can sometimes be useful, but when I saw this, I nearly choked (as Mom would say):
So, apparently, Dolly Parton is still alive and doing well. Good gravy. Callous! Have some respect! Someone somewhere should be fired. How do you fire AI?
I did a check to see if my ongoing letter shows up on search engines like Google. Sure enough, it does. It is apparently ” a long-running personal blog and online diary format called the Ongoing Letter.” Well that’s good to know.
website outage
I just wanted to say “sorry” to those who have been trying to get stuff done on my website. It was down for about one and a half days due to a glitch in DNS Naming Services. I think it’s all back to normal now.
AVG broke my system!
AVG Antivirus broke my system! Instead of coming to my OGL and posting something, I’ve spent the past 1.5 hours trying to sort through why my computer is broken – specifically, why Explorer Patcher has been quarantined by AVG Antivirus. It actually started last night when my computer couldn’t open a simple .txt file. Then more of it this morning! They claim it contains a trojan virus. I really don’t believe it does! It’s just an add-on program that changes the goofy Microsoft Windows 11 look of a computer back to Windows 10 or 8 or 7 or whatever you like. It takes the stupid context menus out, gets rid of the silly screen one sees when punching the Windows button, etc. An hour and a half! Buggar off, AVG! Stop trying to rule how I live my life!
Raspberry Pi 5
I got a new computer – a Raspberry Pi 5. We’ll see how useful / fun it is.
