There’s an app called Flash Foods that offers discount about-to-be-expired foods. I picked up some meat from them and threw it on the barbecue. Mine is not gas but, rather, wood. And coal.
When a tenant left moved out, they left an old barbecue and a quarter bag of coal (not charcoal briquettes in nice, round, little pieces, but actual chunks of coal). We threw out the barbecue after scavenging some parts from it. I wondered what the devil would I ever do with coal. So I tried it today on the barbecue along with some camp fire wood pieces.
The problem was that the steaks covered the entire grill, so the barbecue wouldn’t stay lit due to a lack of oxygen. It seems the case as even the propane torch used to boost the flames wouldn’t stay lit. It mostly smoked the meat. Finally I took one off and cooked the other then traded back again.
But the results were pretty good.
We each ate a half steak.
