I finally broke down and bought a new toolbox last night.
I picked up my old toolbox a few days ago, and the rope handle I had fashioned a few years ago broke through the plastic lid. Previous toolbox repairs included JB Weld patches, borrowing a hasp from another identical toolbox, and making a replacement handle out of rope. Time to retire the old thing.
So, 15 minutes before closing, I went to Rona to buy a new one. Since the fall of Sears, Craftsman tools have been sold elsewhere. I didn’t know this, but Rona apparently picked up the name.
