DeWalt drill useless light

I have had this DeWalt drill for a few years now.  This feature has always bugged me.

It has a little LED light just North of the trigger.  It is supposed to make life easier by shedding light on the thing you’re working with.  How is it, then, that the light is always blocked by the drill’s chuck?

It is always in shadow!  My little Black and Decker drill that EH gifted me does not do this.  The light is situated on the but end of the drill, where the battery connects.  It actually works.
